Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on Thursday attacked the Congress government and urged voters to treat the upcoming municipal elections as a lesson for the ruling party.
While campaigning in Rajanna Sircilla district, Rama Rao addressed residents across several wards. He accused the Congress of failing to deliver on promises made after coming to power. He also said the government was misleading people again ahead of the municipal polls.
Referring to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao questioned the delay in releasing Rythu Bandhu payments. He asked why the government linked welfare disbursements to elections. He added that benefits should reach farmers on time and remain free from political influence.
KTR municipal polls pitch flags stalled welfare schemes
Continuing his municipal polls pitch, Rama Rao said the Congress had sidelined key welfare schemes. He named Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak as examples. He alleged that the ruling party was creating false hopes among the public and warned voters not to trust its assurances.
Rama Rao also criticised the Chief Minister for repeatedly targeting former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao. Instead, he said the government should focus on governance and delivery. He further alleged that the Congress was planning to scrap smaller districts formed during the BRS tenure.
Describing the municipal elections as a direct contest between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Congress, Rama Rao urged voters to support the BRS. He said these local body polls should mark the beginning of the process to bring KCR back as Chief Minister by reviving welfare and development programmes.
