CM Naidu reviews Cyclone Arnab impact, orders swift restoration in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday reviewed the impact of Cyclone Arnab and directed officials to speed up restoration and relief operations across the state. During a teleconference with around 32,000 officials, including district collectors and field-level staff, he stressed public safety and the need to restore normalcy quickly.

Naidu instructed officials to remove fallen trees from roads within two hours. He also directed electricity department personnel to restore power once weather conditions permit. Meanwhile, he ordered a preliminary assessment of crop damage and measures to protect horticultural crops and irrigation infrastructure.

The Chief Minister praised officials for working through the night to manage the situation. However, he urged them to maintain the same level of commitment until normalcy returns. He also stressed the need to provide essential services at cyclone shelters.

Cyclone Arnab relief measures focus on public safety

Naidu directed officials to ensure adequate food, drinking water and medical facilities at rehabilitation centres and cyclone shelters. He also instructed authorities to keep National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams on standby for emergencies.

According to the state government, officials had shifted more than 28,000 people to rehabilitation centres. No deaths had been reported at the time of the review, the government said.

Furthermore, Naidu called for close coordination among departments to speed up relief work and address emerging problems. He directed officials to resolve public grievances through the Mana Mitra system and keep the Central government informed about relief measures.

The Chief Minister emphasised that officials must prioritise the safety of affected residents while restoring essential services. He also called for timely action on infrastructure damage and agricultural concerns as authorities continue their response to the cyclone.
