NEET re-examination preparedness reviewed by Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan

New Delhi: Cabinet Secretary Dr T V Somanathan reviewed preparations for the NEET re-examination with the Director General of the National Testing Agency. The examination is scheduled to take place on June 21, 2026.

He directed all agencies to ensure transparent, secure and smooth conduct of the examination. Moreover, he stressed strong coordination between the Centre, States and district administrations.

Dr Somanathan warned that strict legal action would follow any attempt to disturb or compromise the examination process. He said the government would not tolerate activities that threaten fairness and credibility.

Security measures strengthened for national entrance examination

The Cabinet Secretary said the Central Government, State Governments and local authorities were working together to complete all arrangements. Furthermore, he said coordination among stakeholders remained crucial for successful conduct of NEET re-examination.

Earlier, Dr Somanathan reviewed preparations with Central Government Secretaries and concerned agencies on June 1. Subsequently, he held discussions with Chief Secretaries of States on June 4.

The review meetings focused on improving coordination and strengthening security arrangements. In addition, officials assessed administrative readiness at multiple levels.

The government aims to maintain transparency and public confidence throughout the examination process. Therefore, authorities are continuing close monitoring and necessary preparations.

Officials are also ensuring that examination centres follow all required protocols. Meanwhile, district administrations are coordinating with agencies to prevent any disruption.

The Centre reiterated that the examination would be conducted fairly and securely. These measures aim to protect students’ interests and uphold the integrity of the national entrance system.
