Power substations: CM Revanth Reddy orders fast-track construction

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to fast-track construction of power substations, stressing the need to strengthen electricity infrastructure across Telangana.

He issued the direction during a high-level review of the power sector with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Senior energy officials and MP Vemula Veeresham attended the meeting.

Revanth Reddy said the state required robust infrastructure to support upcoming industrial zones, high-speed rail corridors and the Regional Ring Road. Therefore, he asked officials to accelerate planning and execution without delay.

He also instructed departments to clear pending approvals under the Green Energy Policy on priority. In addition, he directed authorities to grant permissions for large data centres to boost investment.

Power substations linked with solar expansion plans

The Chief Minister asked officials to promote solar energy alongside infrastructure expansion. He suggested creating awareness among self-help group women on solar opportunities. He also encouraged wider use of solar stoves among the public.

Further, he directed the establishment of solar power plants near power substations wherever land was available. He proposed pilot projects at two substations in each undivided district outside Hyderabad.

Officials were asked to appoint nodal officers for 18 pilot solar plants across nine undivided districts. Each district will host two projects under the pilot phase. As a result, the government aims to expand renewable energy integration.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy directed the power department to use artificial intelligence to identify supply gaps and improve distribution efficiency. He also asked officials to address employee concerns regarding Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company Limited.

The Chief Minister said coordinated efforts across departments would ensure reliable power supply and support long-term development goals.
