RTC driver death: KTR terms it state murder, seeks justice

Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao termed the RTC driver death as “state murder” and blamed the Congress government for the incident in Narsampet.

He said the death of driver Shankar Goud was not a suicide. Instead, he alleged it resulted from prolonged neglect of RTC workers’ issues over the past two and a half years. He demanded justice for the bereaved family.

KTR sought ₹1 crore compensation and a government job for a family member. He also urged the government to extend full support to them during this period.

Addressing the RTC driver death, he criticised authorities for not allowing the mortal remains to be taken to the Narsampet depot for tributes. He further condemned the arrest of former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and other BRS leaders and workers.

RTC driver death raises demands for accountability

KTR demanded the immediate release of those detained. He also urged the government to allow RTC employees and supporters to pay homage at the depot. According to him, such restrictions had angered workers.

He said multiple RTC employees attempting suicide on the same day reflected deep distress. Moreover, he described the incident as a “black day” in Telangana’s history.

KTR alleged that the government failed to fulfil election promises and attempted to weaken the RTC. Therefore, he called for urgent talks to resolve workers’ demands and restore confidence.

At the same time, he appealed to RTC employees not to resort to extreme steps. He assured that the BRS would stand by them in their peaceful and united struggle.
