Nuclear energy summit invitation extended to Dr Jitendra Singh by Rwanda

Hyderabad: Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India, Ms Jacqueline Mukangira, invited Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to participate in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2026). She personally conveyed the invitation during a meeting in New Delhi. The summit will take place in Kigali from 18–21 May 2026.

Dr. Singh regretted his inability to travel to Rwanda. However, he agreed to participate virtually. Moreover, he confirmed that he will address a designated session during the summit. The invitation was extended on behalf of the Government of Rwanda, including Minister of ICT and Innovation Hon. Paula Ingabire.

The summit will be organised at the Kigali Convention Centre. In addition, it will be held in collaboration with international institutions such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Nuclear Energy Agency and World Nuclear Association. Therefore, the event will bring together ministers, policymakers, scientists and industry leaders.

Nuclear energy summit discussions focus on technology partnership

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation. They focused on nuclear energy, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Furthermore, they explored opportunities in innovation, digital capacity building and atomic energy applications.

Dr. Singh highlighted India’s progress in frontier sectors. He referred to developments in nuclear energy, space technology, biotechnology and digital governance. Moreover, he said these efforts reflect the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for technology-driven inclusive growth.

The Rwandan delegation expressed strong interest in India’s scientific capabilities. In addition, they showed willingness to deepen institutional partnerships. Discussions included research collaboration, education exchange and innovation ecosystems.

Both sides also discussed the proposed session for Dr. Singh at the summit. They reviewed modalities for virtual participation. Consequently, arrangements will ensure his address is included in the programme.

Dr. Singh stated that India values international cooperation in emerging technologies. He added that partnerships with Global South nations remain a priority. Therefore, India will continue engagement in science, innovation and sustainable development initiatives.
