Hyderabad: State IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Sunday urged newly elected sarpanches to build Digital Villages to ensure transparent and efficient civic services at the grassroots level.
Addressing a felicitation programme for newly elected sarpanches of the united Ranga Reddy district at Shamshabad, he said strong villages form the base of India’s democratic system. According to him, States and the nation can progress only when villages grow stronger.
Urging leadership with integrity, the Minister asked sarpanches to act as a firm bridge between the government and the people. With committed work, he said, villagers should clearly see transformation during the sarpanches’ tenure.
The Minister said the State government will actively support gram panchayats in adopting digital technologies. Through this support, villages can evolve into Digital Villages with better governance and service delivery. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Gram Swaraj and promised higher allocations for village panchayats.
Focus on infrastructure, welfare delivery and training
Highlighting welfare delivery, Sridhar Babu said benefits must reach the last person in every village. Therefore, he asked sarpanches to ensure transparency in implementation.
On infrastructure, he urged priority for cement roads, drainage systems and street lighting. He also asked sarpanches to regularly monitor schools, anganwadi centres and primary health centres.
Referring to past difficulties, the Minister said the government is clearing pending bills in a phased manner. He assured that the government will fulfil all promises made before the elections.
In addition, he announced phased and structured training programmes for sarpanches. These programmes, he said, will strengthen administrative and leadership skills.
MLAs Mal Reddy Rangareddy, Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, Veerlapalli Shankar, Rammohan Reddy and Manohar Reddy attended the programme. Ranga Reddy DCC president Challa Narasimha Reddy, Vikarabad DCC president Dhara Singh, party leaders and newly elected sarpanches were also present.
