New Delhi: Team India secured three gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the Global Skills Challenge Australia 2026, strengthening its preparations for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai later this year. The Global Skills Challenge was held from June 23 to 29 and featured nearly 600 competitors from 16 WorldSkills member nations.
Congratulating the contingent, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said the medal haul reflected the talent, dedication and hard work of India’s skill champions, mentors and industry partners. He added that the competition also provided valuable international exposure and strengthened India’s readiness for WorldSkills Shanghai.
Pavan Bhadravati Suresha from Karnataka won gold in Additive Manufacturing, while Mausam Kumar Giri from Bihar claimed gold in Cloud Computing. Vishnupriya Sunil from Delhi secured gold in Health and Social Care. Harsh Ramesh Pawar from Maharashtra earned silver in 3D Digital Game Art, and Muskan from Haryana won bronze in Painting and Decorating.
The 30-member Indian contingent included 15 competitors and 15 experts who participated across 15 skill categories covering advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, construction trades, creative industries and service-sector skills.
Global Skills Challenge boosts WorldSkills preparations
The competition replicated WorldSkills standards through the internationally recognised Competition Information System, giving participants practical experience under global assessment methods and real-world conditions. As a result, competitors gained valuable exposure to international equipment, performance standards and competitive environments.
India competed in categories including Automobile Technology, Beauty Therapy, Bricklaying, Floristry, Graphic Design Technology, Hairdressing, Industrial Mechanics, Restaurant Service, Wall and Floor Tiling and Web Technologies.
Moreover, the event highlighted the growing global competitiveness of India’s skilled youth across manufacturing, digital technologies, creative sectors and services. It also demonstrated how international competitions help make vocational skills more aspirational among young people.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said India’s participation forms part of the broader Skill India Mission to develop a future-ready workforce through advanced training, industry partnerships, expert mentoring and international exposure.
