Bhatti prioritises education and healthcare in Budget planning

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said education and healthcare priority would guide the State’s Budget planning and assured adequate allocations to strengthen both sectors.

He chaired a series of pre-budget meetings at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. The reviews covered Minority Welfare, BC Welfare, Transport, Irrigation, Civil Supplies, Roads and Buildings, and Cinematography departments. Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Adluri Laxman Kumar and Ajharuddin attended the discussions.

During the Minority Welfare review, Bhatti reiterated the education and healthcare priority and directed officials to submit structured proposals. He stressed revenue discipline and careful expenditure management. At the same time, he asked departments to link allocations with measurable outcomes.

He instructed officials to clear pending bills related to welfare hostels and gurukuls without delay. If departments submitted bills promptly, authorities would release payments quickly. Moreover, he ordered immediate completion of hostel building repairs to improve living conditions.

Education and healthcare priority shapes welfare reforms

Referring to infrastructure initiatives, Bhatti said the government was constructing Young India Integrated Schools with world-class standards. These institutions aim to create inclusive campuses where students from different backgrounds study together. Therefore, he asked officials to ensure timely execution of these projects.

He directed departments to install biometric attendance systems for students and teaching staff wherever they were not in place. In addition, he instructed officials to link these systems to a central control room for better monitoring and transparency.

Furthermore, Bhatti asked departments to examine the installation of solar power systems on hostel and residential buildings. Solar energy, he said, would reduce electricity costs and generate supplementary income for institutions.

He also noted that the government had enhanced diet and cosmetic charges for welfare hostels. Additionally, it introduced a revised menu as part of broader welfare reforms. Through these measures, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State would reinforce its education and healthcare priority in the upcoming Budget.
