Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender said village panchayats in Telangana were surviving on central funds and questioned criticism directed at the Union government.
Speaking after inspecting arrangements for the BJP public meeting at Parade Grounds on Friday, Etala Rajender said people in Telangana strongly wanted the BJP to come to power.
He said some political leaders were questioning what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had brought to Telangana. However, he argued that village panchayats continued to function with financial assistance from the Centre.
Etala Rajender questioned how the state could receive funds without support from the Union government. He asserted that central assistance remained crucial for local bodies across Telangana.
The BJP leader also criticised both the previous BRS government and the ruling Congress administration in the state.
Central funds panchayats issue dominates BJP remarks
Etala Rajender said people had already rejected the “dictatorial rule” of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Moreover, he claimed the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was also facing growing public opposition.
He said voters would decisively defeat Revanth Reddy in the coming elections. He further claimed that political developments in Telangana would resemble election outcomes seen in West Bengal.
Additionally, Etala Rajender said the BJP would first focus on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in Telangana.
After that, the party would concentrate on ZPTC, MPTC and Assembly elections across the state, he added.
