New Delhi: Union Government will conduct the PMGSY-IV launch on May 10 in Bhairunda, Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh. The programme will also mark 25 years of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. In addition, officials will celebrate the silver jubilee of the scheme during the event.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead the programme. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will also attend the function. Moreover, senior Union and State officials will participate in the event scheduled at 12 noon.
During the PMGSY-IV launch, the Union Minister will hand over approval letters to the Chief Minister. These approvals cover 973 roads with a total length of 2,117 kilometres. Consequently, 987 habitations across Madhya Pradesh will benefit from the projects. In addition, 384 kilometres of roads under the PM-JANMAN initiative will receive approval. These works will directly support 168 backward habitations.
The Union Minister will also announce a symbolic allocation of ₹18,907 crore for PMGSY in 2026–27. Out of this amount, ₹830 crore has been allocated for Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, rural connectivity in the State will receive a significant boost.
PMGSY-IV launch strengthens rural connectivity nationwide
The event will highlight the transition to PMGSY-IV as a new phase of rural infrastructure development. Furthermore, officials described the programme as a step toward technology-driven road construction. The initiative aims to expand durable, all-weather roads across villages.
According to the statement, rural roads connect villages to markets, healthcare, education and employment. As a result, the scheme supports economic activity and improves access to essential services. The programme will also reinforce last-mile connectivity across rural regions.
In addition, the event will felicitate states that performed well in implementing rural road projects. The government will recognise their contribution to infrastructure expansion. Moreover, the celebration will underline the commitment to inclusive growth and social development.
The authorities stated that PMGSY-IV represents the next stage of rural transformation. Therefore, the launch signals a renewed focus on connectivity and development across India. The programme will also begin a new chapter in strengthening rural infrastructure.
