Hyderabad: State Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Tuesday criticised BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind for making personal remarks against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and asked BJP leaders to focus on farmers issues.
Addressing a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad along with Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, the minister said public representatives should discuss agriculture, welfare schemes and state rights instead of targeting individuals.
Laxman Kumar alleged that BJP leaders were avoiding discussions on paddy procurement, maize cultivation and farmer-related concerns. He challenged Dharmapuri Arvind to approach the Centre and secure support prices for maize farmers in Telangana.
The minister also claimed that Arvind’s political family earlier rose through the Congress party. According to him, the BJP leader’s criticism of Congress reflected political frustration.
Laxman Kumar stated that the Congress functioned through democratic coordination unlike parties run through centralised instructions. He further objected to remarks allegedly made against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s family members.
The minister questioned whether Congress leaders should also raise allegations involving Arvind’s family in Nizamabad. He added that Revanth Reddy rose through grassroots politics before becoming MLA, MP, Telangana Congress president and Chief Minister.
Farmers issues dominate Congress attack on BJP
Laxman Kumar questioned why Dharmapuri Arvind had not strongly raised farmers issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the Union Agriculture Ministry despite paddy procurement concerns in Telangana.
He also demanded that BRS leader G. Jagadish Reddy reveal names while alleging that some Congress leaders remained in contact with the BRS.
Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav also criticised the BJP during the press conference. He accused BJP leaders of ignoring public concerns while concentrating on political attacks.
According to Anil Kumar Yadav, the BJP should resolve its own internal disputes instead of criticising rival parties. He also pointed out that the Congress had earlier given important political opportunities to Arvind’s father.
In addition, the Rajya Sabha member criticised the BJP-led Central government over rising petrol and diesel prices. He questioned why citizens should bear the burden of policy failures and increasing fuel costs.
Congress leaders asserted that public discussions should centre on agriculture, welfare and governance instead of personal political attacks.
