Hyderabad: Telangana High Court imposed a HYDRAA Commissioner penalty of Rs 50,000 on A.V. Ranganath for failing to file a counter affidavit within the prescribed time in a case before the court.
The court expressed dissatisfaction over the delay and objected to repeated requests seeking additional time. It said officials holding responsible positions must comply with judicial directions without unnecessary delays.
HYDRAA Commissioner penalty highlights court accountability
The High Court observed that failure to submit the counter affidavit within the stipulated period affected adherence to court procedures. Therefore, it directed Ranganath to deposit Rs 50,000 in the Chief Justice Relief Fund without delay.
A.V. Ranganath recently gained public attention for HYDRAA drives against illegal constructions and encroachments on water bodies across Hyderabad. However, this court order brought renewed focus on the responsibility of government officials in responding to legal matters.
Meanwhile, the decision has sparked discussions in administrative and political circles regarding timely compliance with judicial proceedings and official accountability.
