Telangana Hamali Welfare Board committee to be formed, says Vivek Venkataswamy

Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy announced that the Telangana government will establish a special committee for the Hamali Welfare Board to improve the lives of hamali workers across the state.

The Minister instructed officials to begin the process immediately. The committee will include officials, hamali association representatives, union leaders and experts. It will study issues related to minimum wages, identity cards, insurance and social security.

Moreover, Dr. Vivek Venkataswamy said the government would take suggestions from all hamali associations before establishing a strong welfare system. He added that the government remains committed to protecting the dignity and safety of workers.

Government plans more support through Hamali Welfare Board

Currently, hamali workers receive accidental death insurance of ₹2 lakh. Therefore, families of workers who die in accidents receive financial assistance. The Minister also said the government is ready to introduce additional welfare measures.

Further, he urged hamali workers to complete their registration and use various government welfare schemes. He requested authorities to provide Indiramma houses to all eligible workers. According to him, the housing scheme will help poor labour families live with dignity.

Additionally, the Minister appealed to workers to enrol under the Indira Jeevan Bheema scheme. The scheme provides insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh to support their families.

The meeting was attended by Legislative Council member Prof. Kodandaram and hamali representatives Venkat Reddy, Kanaganti Ravanna, Srinivas Reddy, Kaleem and others.
