Journalists accreditation cards extended till July 15 by Telangana High Court

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court extended the validity of Journalists accreditation cards till July 15, 2026, while hearing petitions challenging G.O. Ms. No. 252 and its amended versions.

The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation and others filed the petitions questioning the validity of the government orders. The petitioners also sought protection of accreditation facilities during the ongoing legal proceedings. Advocate Barkat Ali Khan represented the petitioners before the court.

During the hearing, the Special Advocate General presented the government’s stand before the court. Subsequently, the court recorded the submission and ordered that all existing accreditation cards would remain valid for another month.

The decision ensured that accredited journalists across Telangana continued to access official events and retained benefits linked to their accreditation without interruption.

The High Court stated that it would consider the application during the next hearing. Meanwhile, Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin, General Secretary of the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation, welcomed the relief but described it as temporary. He said the federation would continue its legal battle for a permanent solution.

Furthermore, the court posted the next hearing for July 22, 2026. The final verdict will determine the validity of the challenged government orders. Until then, journalists will continue their professional duties without uncertainty.

The order brought temporary stability for media professionals in Telangana. However, the larger dispute over accreditation policies remains pending before the court.
