Tripura road projects worth ₹211 crore approved under PMGSY-IV

Tripura: Tripura road projects worth ₹211.71 crore secured approval under PMGSY-IV, enabling 96 rural habitations to gain all-weather road connectivity for the first time.

The Ministry of Rural Development approved 96 road works covering 163.872 km under Batch-I of PMGSY-IV for 2026-27. The projects target villages that currently lack reliable road access.

As a result, residents will reach schools, healthcare centres and rural markets more easily. Better connectivity will also support economic activity and improve access to government services.

Moreover, the new roads will strengthen rural infrastructure across Tripura. Officials said the initiative will improve living standards and support balanced regional development.

The ministry stated that the programme aligns with the vision of building a developed India through stronger infrastructure and inclusive growth.

Tripura road projects boost rural connectivity

The ministry said PMGSY continues to reduce connectivity gaps in rural India. Therefore, the latest approval will help integrate remote communities into the development process.

In addition, the Centre has invested heavily in Tripura’s road network over the years. So far, it has sanctioned 1,594 road works covering 6,284 km and 66 bridges under PMGSY.

These projects represent a total investment of ₹4,479 crore. Consequently, the latest package will further expand the state’s transport network.

Officials noted that all-weather roads improve mobility and strengthen local economies. Furthermore, they help people access education, healthcare and employment opportunities throughout the year.

Tripura road projects under PMGSY-IV are expected to accelerate socio-economic development and improve connectivity across rural parts of the state.
