Amaravati CGGPOA project approved for Central Government offices

New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the Amaravati CGGPOA project for the construction of a Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation complex in Andhra Pradesh’s new capital city. The project will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,299.08 crore and funded by the Government of India.

The Amaravati CGGPOA project aims to bring multiple Central Government offices under one roof to improve inter-departmental coordination and enhance service delivery in Andhra Pradesh. Officials said the facility would address the growing requirement for office space while supporting the development of Amaravati as a world-class greenfield capital city.

The project will be spread across 5.53 acres and will consist of two office blocks. One block on Plot C-9 will have Ground plus 13 floors, while the second block on Plot C-8 will have Ground plus 10 floors. Together, the complex will offer a built-up area of 23.25 lakh square feet and accommodate nearly 8,000 officials and staff members.

The proposal also includes podium parking for around 1,800 equivalent car spaces. In addition, the campus will house essential employee and visitor facilities such as a bank with ATM services, a post office, a crèche, recreation rooms, a ladies’ room, conference facilities and canteens.

Amaravati CGGPOA project planned with green building standards

The government said the Amaravati CGGPOA project would follow advanced sustainability standards. The campus is being designed to achieve at least a GRIHA 4-Star Rating and comply with the latest Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) 2024 provisions.

Planners have incorporated measures for energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable site development and the use of locally available materials. The project will also feature a barrier-free environment to ensure accessibility and convenience for Divyangjan in line with prescribed norms.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will execute the project through the Central Public Works Department. Authorities said pre-bid activities have already begun, while the preparation of tender documents is currently underway.

The project is expected to create significant employment opportunities. During construction, it is estimated to generate around 7,00,000 man-days of employment annually. Furthermore, the operational phase is likely to create approximately 50,000 man-days of employment each year.

Officials said the new office complex would strengthen the administrative presence of the Central Government in Andhra Pradesh while supporting Amaravati’s long-term urban and institutional growth.
