Coal gasification roadshow to be held in Hyderabad on June 11

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Coal will organise a Coal gasification roadshow in Hyderabad on June 11, following the strong response received at a similar event held earlier in New Delhi. The programme aims to promote coal and lignite gasification projects and encourage greater industry participation in the sector.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy will attend the event as the chief guest, while Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey will participate as the guest of honour. The roadshow will also be attended by Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt, Additional Secretary Sanoj Kumar Jha, senior government officials, industry representatives, investors and technology providers.

The Ministry said the New Delhi roadshow generated significant interest among stakeholders and reflected growing confidence in India’s coal gasification ecosystem. Building on that momentum, the Hyderabad event is expected to attract a wide range of participants from both the public and private sectors.

Coal gasification is a process that converts coal into synthesis gas, or syngas, which can then be used to manufacture products such as methanol, ammonium nitrate, synthetic natural gas and various industrial chemicals. The government has identified the technology as an important tool for improving energy security and reducing dependence on imports.

Coal gasification roadshow to focus on investments and technology

The Coal gasification roadshow will provide a platform for discussions on policy support, technological advancements, investment opportunities and project implementation strategies. Policymakers, industry leaders and investors are expected to explore collaborative approaches to accelerate coal and lignite gasification projects across the country.

Officials said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to diversify the use of domestic coal resources while promoting industrial growth. Furthermore, the event is expected to strengthen stakeholder engagement and facilitate strategic partnerships in the sector.

The Ministry believes wider adoption of coal gasification technology can support sustainable resource utilisation and help create a stronger domestic industrial base. Consequently, the Hyderabad roadshow is expected to contribute to the development of a robust ecosystem for coal and lignite gasification projects in India.

The Ministry of Coal said such outreach programmes remain central to advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through enhanced energy security, innovation and increased industry participation.
