New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed India’s GDP growth rate of 7.7% in FY 2025-26 and said the country continued to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy despite global challenges.
In a post on X, Shah credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic reforms for sustaining growth during a period marked by economic uncertainty across several countries.
He said India outperformed all major economies during the financial year. According to him, the country’s economic strength reflected the impact of reforms introduced over the past 12 years.
Moreover, Shah said the government successfully navigated multiple global disruptions while maintaining economic stability. He noted that challenges such as the pandemic and international conflicts tested economies across the world.
GDP growth rate reflects economic resilience
The Union Minister said India’s economic performance demonstrated resilience amid difficult global conditions. Furthermore, he stated that policy measures introduced by the Modi government helped protect the economy from external shocks.
Shah added that long-term reforms continued to drive prosperity and strengthen India’s position in the global economy. He also expressed confidence that the country would sustain its growth momentum in the coming years.
The remarks came after official data showed India’s economy expanded by 7.7% during FY26. Consequently, India retained its position as the fastest-growing major economy in the world.
