BJP begins GHMC poll preparations in Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP GHMC preparations intensified after Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao held a strategy meeting with division presidents and senior leaders from Greater Hyderabad limits on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at the BJP city office in Barkatpura in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma. Party leaders discussed booth-level mobilisation and election planning ahead of the upcoming GHMC elections.

Ramchander Rao instructed party workers to strengthen organisational activity in every division across Hyderabad. He urged cadres to focus on disciplined grassroots mobilisation and voter outreach programmes.

The BJP leader said the number of GHMC wards could rise to 300 or even 350 after the delimitation process. Therefore, he asked party leaders to remain fully prepared for elections likely to take place in September or October this year.

Recalling the 2020 GHMC elections, Ramchander Rao said the BJP secured 48 divisions independently despite facing the combined strength of the then TRS and AIMIM. According to him, the results reflected growing support for the BJP in Hyderabad.

He also stated that the BJP now holds strong parliamentary representation within GHMC limits and expressed confidence about the party’s prospects in the civic polls.

BJP GHMC preparations focus on booth strategy

Ramchander Rao said the party would give tickets only to grassroots leaders with strong public support and organisational commitment. He added that surveys, public acceptance and winnability would guide candidate selection.

At the same time, he warned party workers against group politics and internal disputes. He stressed that the BJP leadership would not tolerate factional activities during the election campaign.

The BJP state president further said the party’s central leadership was closely monitoring developments related to the GHMC elections. He directed local leaders to strengthen booth committees in every ward before the election schedule is announced.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent public meeting in Telangana, Ramchander Rao described the programme as a major success that boosted morale among BJP workers.

He also criticised the BRS and claimed the party had lost public support in Telangana. In addition, he alleged that several BRS leaders were showing interest in joining the BJP.

Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge as a strong political force in the GHMC region and perform strongly in the upcoming civic polls.
