Congress Talent Hunt aims to bring youth into politics

Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress Talent Hunt programme would create opportunities for talented youth who aspire to enter politics and contribute to public life.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, he said the initiative stemmed from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s vision of encouraging greater youth participation in democratic processes. He added that the party had introduced a new method to identify and select official spokespersons.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said the programme would welcome individuals who want to serve society through politics. He explained that the initiative would focus on identifying capable people with leadership potential and public service values.

According to him, applicants should possess a strong understanding of national politics. They should also remain informed about current political developments in Telangana. In addition, candidates must understand secularism, which he described as a core principle of the Congress party.

Congress Talent Hunt prioritises merit and knowledge

The TPCC chief said the programme would provide a platform for talented individuals from different backgrounds. He noted that many young people wanted to enter politics but often lacked opportunities to showcase their abilities.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said the selection process would evaluate talent, political knowledge and awareness of public issues. It would also assess a candidate’s commitment to serving society and addressing people’s concerns.

He clarified that political affiliation would not be the main criterion during selection. Instead, the party would give priority to merit, knowledge and social commitment.

Furthermore, he said the initiative would encourage more young people to participate in public affairs and democratic institutions. He expressed confidence that the programme would help bring fresh talent into politics.

The TPCC president said the Congress Talent Hunt would strengthen public participation and help identify future leaders. He added that the programme reflected the party’s effort to expand opportunities for talented youth who wanted to work for society through politics.
