Chandrababu Naidu orders speedy compensation for Cyclone Arnab victims

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to expedite Cyclone Arnab compensation, speed up damage assessments and restore essential services in affected areas. He gave the directions during a teleconference with district collectors and departmental officials on Thursday, 29 October. He reviewed relief and restoration measures at the meeting.

Officials told the Chief Minister that normalcy had returned to most affected areas. They added that they would submit a preliminary damage report soon. Naidu asked them to complete damage assessments and compensation payments at the earliest, excluding crop-loss cases.

He stressed that the administration must stand firmly with people during natural disasters. Relief efforts, he said, must continue until normalcy is fully restored. Officials were also instructed to clear the remaining fallen trees, remove cyclone debris and restore power supply in all affected areas by Friday.

Chief Minister seeks action plan for affected farmers

The Chief Minister highlighted the contrasting challenges facing farmers across the State. Rayalaseema is grappling with El Nino-related difficulties. Meanwhile, farmers in North Andhra, Coastal Andhra and the Godavari districts have suffered crop and coconut tree damage due to the cyclone. He called for a comprehensive action plan to support affected farmers and minimise losses.

Naidu also asked agriculture officials, scientists and students to explore ways to save submerged crops. He wants them to assess whether damaged coconut trees and other horticultural plants can be replanted. He emphasised extending government scheme benefits to affected agricultural and horticultural farmers.

The Chief Minister further directed officials to use technology to accelerate crop-loss assessments and prepare accurate damage estimates. He urged the administration to keep the public regularly informed about relief and restoration measures. This, he said, would ensure people’s cooperation.
