India Post, UTI Mutual Fund expand doorstep KYC verification services

New Delhi: India Post and UTI Mutual Fund have expanded their partnership to improve access to mutual fund services across India. The renewed agreement will strengthen doorstep Know Your Customer (KYC) verification and help investors complete the process more conveniently.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 29 at UTI Asset Management Company’s corporate office in Mumbai. Shri Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager of the Parcel and CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, and Shri Vetri Subramaniam, Managing Director and CEO of UTI AMC, exchanged the agreement.

Under the Pan-India KYC Verification Project, India Post will use its extensive postal network to reach investors across the country. The initiative will bring KYC verification services to investors’ doorsteps, including those in remote and underserved areas. It also aims to support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Expanded KYC verification to improve investor access

The expanded partnership builds on an earlier KYC remediation initiative. That effort helped investors complete pending KYC requirements, address documentation gaps and improve compliance. Now, the renewed collaboration aims to strengthen investor services and make mutual fund access more convenient.

Moreover, the initiative could encourage wider participation in mutual funds by reducing difficulties in completing verification procedures. It also seeks to support uninterrupted access to mutual fund investments.

India Post’s nationwide reach will play a key role in extending these services beyond major urban centres. Through its last-mile connectivity, the postal network can help investors in underserved locations access financial services more easily.

The partnership reflects the shared commitment of India Post and UTI Mutual Fund to financial inclusion and customer-focused services. By expanding doorstep KYC verification, both organisations aim to improve investor convenience and widen access to mutual fund investments.
