Ganga Expressway inaugurated to boost Uttar Pradesh connectivity

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its role in boosting connectivity and economic growth across the state.

The 594-km access-controlled greenfield corridor connects western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Officials said the project was completed in under five years, marking a major infrastructure milestone. The Prime Minister stated that the Ganga Expressway would serve as a lifeline for development, linking key commercial, agricultural and cultural regions.

He said improved road connectivity would help farmers access markets more efficiently. As a result, transport costs could reduce while income opportunities may increase. He also noted that better logistics and connectivity would support supply chains and industrial expansion.

Moreover, the Prime Minister emphasised that the expressway would bring the National Capital Region closer to several districts. This, he said, would create new opportunities for businesses and employment.

Ganga Expressway to drive industrial growth

The government plans to develop industrial corridors along the Ganga Expressway route. These corridors are expected to attract sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, leather and handicrafts. Officials said this could generate jobs and strengthen local economies.

In addition, the Prime Minister highlighted the role of small industries and MSMEs. He said improved connectivity would help them reach domestic and global markets more easily. Therefore, the project is expected to benefit entrepreneurs and youth across the state.

He also pointed to Uttar Pradesh’s broader transformation. The state, once seen as underdeveloped, is now aiming to become a one trillion-dollar economy. According to him, infrastructure projects like the Ganga Expressway will play a key role in achieving this target.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted improvements in sectors such as manufacturing, defence and technology. He said these developments would strengthen both economic growth and national security.

The Ganga Expressway is part of a larger push to modernise infrastructure across India. Officials believe such projects will improve connectivity, support economic activity and create long-term development opportunities.
