Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader Harish Rao demanded a fast-track court in the Khammam minor assault case and sought the strictest punishment for the accused.
Along with former minister Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, he visited NIMS Hospital and met the 12-year-old victim receiving treatment. The leaders spoke with doctors and reviewed her health condition.
They requested the medical team to provide the best possible treatment. They also assured the victim’s family of continued support.
Harish Rao described the Khammam minor assault as a shocking incident. He alleged that the case reflected a decline in law and order under the Congress government.
He said the child suffered fractures in both hands and was unable to walk. According to him, doctors informed them that her recovery would take time.

Harish Rao urged the government to establish a fast-track court immediately and ensure severe punishment for those responsible.
He also alleged a rise in crimes against children across Telangana. He claimed that five to six POCSO cases were reported daily in the state.
Referring to incidents in Yalal, Bomraspet, Basheerabad, Mominpet and Nirmal, he said the repeated cases raised serious concerns over child safety.
Citing NCRB data, Harish Rao claimed POCSO cases in Telangana increased from around 2,200 in 2024 to nearly 2,400 in 2025.
Furthermore, he demanded Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for the victim’s family. He also sought immediate surgeries and requested the government to bear the complete treatment expenses until the girl recovers.
