Regeneron picks Hyderabad for first overseas GCC

Hyderabad: Regeneron Hyderabad plans gained momentum after global biotechnology company Regeneron selected the city for its first Global Capability Centre outside the United States.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced the development during a meeting with a company delegation at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.

The delegation was led by Regeneron Senior Vice President Bari Kowal. During the meeting, Bari Kowal and Telangana Life Sciences CEO Sarvesh Singh exchanged Memorandums of Understanding.

Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad emerged as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres because of its strong infrastructure and skilled workforce.

He added that the expanding GCC ecosystem in the city was creating employment opportunities for IT engineers and technology professionals.

According to the minister, Regeneron already operates offices and manufacturing facilities in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.

He said the Hyderabad centre would function as a major global hub for the company’s operations.

Regeneron Hyderabad GCC to support AI and data science

Sridhar Babu said the proposed centre would support clinical trial operations, commercial analytics, artificial intelligence engineering and data science functions.

He stated that Hyderabad currently hosts nearly 450 Global Capability Centres and recently emerged as the country’s second-largest GCC destination.

The minister said Telangana’s ecosystem in biotechnology, digital technologies and artificial intelligence was attracting multinational companies.

He also highlighted state government initiatives in research, manufacturing, industrial policy and infrastructure development.

According to him, projects such as Genome Valley expansion and the proposed Green Pharma City would further strengthen Telangana’s life sciences sector.

Sridhar Babu said the new facility would generate a large number of high-value jobs in the coming years.

Regeneron Executive Director Rajiv Onat, company representatives and Industries Department officials attended the meeting.
