Sravan Dasoju accuses Congress of ignoring civic crisis

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju on Wednesday accused the Congress government of ignoring the civic crisis faced by slum residents in Khairatabad constituency.

During a visit to Sriram Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar slums on Banjara Hills Road No. 12, he alleged that poor families were living in difficult conditions because of collapsed civic infrastructure.

Local leaders Jejolla Raju Mudiraj, Md. Akhtar, Ramesh, Basva Goud, Ramulu and Sashikala organised the field inspection. Residents complained about drinking water shortages, sewage contamination, damaged roads and delayed drainage works.

Sravan Dasoju criticised the State government and alleged that it focused more on publicity campaigns and real estate projects than on public welfare. He claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy showed greater interest in “Future City” projects instead of resolving civic problems affecting ordinary citizens.

The BRS leader also targeted Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender. According to him, the legislator failed to respond effectively to local grievances raised by residents.

Civic crisis worsens due to delayed drainage works

Sravan Dasoju said drainage and nala works near Mohammedia Masjid remained incomplete for several months. He alleged that authorities failed to clear contractor bills, which delayed the projects further.

As a result, roads in the locality remained dug up and unsafe for commuters. Residents of Ambedkar Nagar also alleged that drinking water supply reduced sharply after the change in government.

They claimed officials supplied water once every two or three days for only a short duration. In addition, residents alleged that sewage water mixed with drinking water pipelines and created serious health concerns.

Questioning the government’s “Telangana Rising” campaign, Sravan Dasoju said the ground reality reflected overflowing sewage, damaged roads and unsafe open drains in several colonies.

The BRS MLC said he raised the issue with GHMC Commissioner Ilambarithi L. Karnan and other zonal officials while demanding immediate action.

He warned that the BRS would organise a large protest and lay siege to the GHMC headquarters if officials failed to resolve the civic problems immediately.
