Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced an RTC DA hike of 2.1% for employees, raising the Dearness Allowance to 52.8% with effect from January 1, 2026.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the allowance increased from 50.7% to 52.8%. He added that the revision would place an additional monthly burden of ₹2.82 crore on the corporation.
DA hike increases employee benefits
The minister said the government will clear arrears for the past three months through supplementary bills. Moreover, authorities will release these payments in three instalments over the coming months.
Earlier, the government raised Dearness Allowance by 2.1% in July 2025, increasing it from 48.6% to 50.7%. Therefore, the latest revision pushes the total allowance to 52.8%, offering improved financial support to employees.
Arrears cleared and payments streamlined
Ponnam Prabhakar said no arrears remain pending after the implementation of RPS-2017 in May 2024. In addition, the government has cleared all previous dues, ensuring financial stability for workers.
He, along with Y. Nagireddy, conveyed greetings to employees following the announcement. Senior officials also welcomed the decision.
Focus on RTC development and welfare
During a meeting with Regional Managers, the minister reviewed ongoing projects and development works. Meanwhile, he confirmed that the corporation had already released the final pending instalment.
He reiterated that arrears from January would be paid in three phases. Consequently, officials will monitor the disbursement process to ensure timely payments.
Government prioritises transport sector growth
The minister said the government remains committed to protecting RTC, improving passenger services, and supporting employee welfare. He added that these priorities continue to guide policy decisions.
Nagireddy noted that employees had awaited the RTC DA hike for a long time. He emphasised that worker welfare remains a key focus for the organisation.
