Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee held an extended Hyderabad DCC meeting to strengthen the party’s base in the Old City ahead of the GHMC elections.
The session took place at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday evening and lasted over five hours. More than 100 office-bearers attended the meeting. Organisers described it as a structured discussion on electoral strategy, organisational gaps and cadre mobilisation.
Unlike routine reviews, the Hyderabad DCC meeting allowed each office-bearer to present views. Leaders analysed voting patterns, low turnout and fragmented opposition votes in several Old City segments. As a result, they stressed the need to improve booth-level presence and voter outreach.
Participants said low polling percentages affected electoral outcomes in key areas. Therefore, they highlighted voter mobilisation as a priority. They also called for targeted engagement with sections that remain politically disengaged.

He also asked leaders to adopt new approaches and take calculated political risks. According to him, expanding the party’s reach in challenging constituencies requires clarity and consistent engagement.
Senior leaders discussed organisational reforms during the session. They focused on improving coordination among local units and strengthening communication. In addition, they suggested outreach programmes for youth and women voters.
The meeting ended with a call for intensified ground-level activity. Leaders expressed confidence that a structured campaign could improve Congress prospects in the upcoming civic polls.
