New Delhi: Government of India ensured stable energy supply and maritime safety amid evolving developments in West Asia, while maintaining fuel availability and repatriating Indian seafarers.
Officials said authorities continued coordinated measures across sectors to maintain uninterrupted energy supply. They also urged citizens to avoid panic buying and rely on official updates. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that petrol, diesel and LPG stocks remained adequate nationwide.
The government prioritised domestic LPG, PNG and CNG supply to households and transport sectors. In addition, authorities increased refinery output and adjusted booking cycles to manage demand efficiently. States also intensified monitoring to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
Enforcement agencies conducted over 1,700 raids across the country. Moreover, oil marketing companies penalised several distributors and suspended operations where violations were found. As a result, officials said supply chains remained stable.
Energy supply measures and PNG expansion
Since March 2026, authorities gasified about 5.96 lakh PNG connections and created infrastructure for 2.68 lakh more. Furthermore, around 6.66 lakh consumers registered for new connections, reflecting a shift toward cleaner fuels.
Refineries continued operating at high capacity. They supplied over 10,000 MT of propylene and 1,200 MT of Butyl Acrylate to key industries. At the same time, the government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to protect consumers from global price fluctuations.
On the maritime front, authorities ensured safety of Indian vessels and crew. The Directorate General of Shipping handled thousands of calls and emails while coordinating assistance. Consequently, more than 2,922 Indian seafarers were safely repatriated, including 30 in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry of External Affairs maintained close contact with Indian missions abroad. It also issued advisories and supported citizens in affected regions. Officials confirmed that port operations in India remained normal and no disruptions were reported.
