Hyderabad: Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Thursday urged minority youth to pursue higher education, develop new skills and maintain discipline to build successful careers. He said stronger minority youth skills would help them pursue emerging employment opportunities across the world. Azharuddin spoke at a Minorities Welfare Department programme at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
The Minister said the Telangana government was prioritising minority welfare and empowerment. He added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was supporting minority welfare programmes by allocating funds. He also urged young people to make effective use of government schemes and available opportunities.
During the programme, Azharuddin distributed CM Overseas Scholarship cheques, mopeds, sewing machines and other welfare benefits to eligible beneficiaries. The department gave out sewing machines under the Indiramma Mahila Shakti scheme. Officials also handed over cheques under the Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana.
“It is heartening to see so many young people coming forward to avail themselves of government welfare schemes. These opportunities should be used effectively to build a better future,” Azharuddin said.
Azharuddin ties minority youth skills to discipline
Azharuddin said people could approach his office with genuine concerns and problems. He assured them that the doors of his office remained open to everyone. Meanwhile, he advised young people to maintain discipline and develop employable skills. He also encouraged them to work towards progress in their personal and professional lives.
Shabbir cites Haj aid and minority achievers
Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the welfare schemes aimed to support genuine beneficiaries from minority communities. He highlighted initiatives that included financial assistance for Haj pilgrims. They also included ex-gratia support for families affected by the Madina accident.
Shabbir also cited minority achievers Mohammed Siraj and Nikhat Zareen. He said the two had secured appointments to Group-I services. In addition, he said hundreds of minority students had benefited from the CM Overseas Scholarship programme.
Qureshi says training can lead to jobs abroad
TGMREIS Vice-President Faheem Qureshi described the welfare schemes as important measures for minority empowerment. He urged beneficiaries and the media to spread awareness so more eligible people could access them. Qureshi also asked parents to encourage their children to enrol in Advanced Training Centres. He said skilled youth could pursue well-paying jobs in countries such as Germany, Japan and South Korea.
MLCs Balmuri Venkat and Mirza Riyazul Hassan Effendi attended the programme. So did Haj Committee Chairman Afzal Biyabani, Telangana Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Mohd. Obedulla Kothwal and Waqf Board Chairman Azmatullah Hussaini.
Christian Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Deepak John, Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan, Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah and other officials were also present.
