Revanth reviews rain preparedness at procurement centres

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday ordered rain safeguards across Telangana after the India Meteorological Department forecast heavy rainfall and strong winds in several districts.

He reviewed the weather situation with senior officials and instructed departments to protect paddy stocks from rain damage. He also directed authorities to speed up procurement and transportation activities to reduce losses for farmers.

The Chief Minister asked district administrations, civil supplies teams and local agencies to remain alert during the weather warning period.

Officials said the government intensified monitoring after the weather department issued an orange alert for multiple districts.

Revanth Reddy said preventive measures were necessary to avoid crop losses and inconvenience at procurement centres. He also advised people in vulnerable districts to remain cautious during heavy rain and wind conditions.

Authorities continued procurement operations while monitoring weather conditions in different districts. Officials said teams were checking storage facilities and transport arrangements regularly.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to respond immediately if rainfall disrupted procurement or transportation activities.

Rain safeguards focus on grain protection

Revanth Reddy directed officials to keep enough tarpaulins ready to cover paddy stocks during rainfall.

He also instructed authorities to move unused tarpaulins from centres where procurement operations had already ended. Officials shifted protective materials to vulnerable locations after the review meeting.

The Chief Minister asked departments to maintain emergency arrangements and ensure uninterrupted movement of grain stocks to storage facilities.

Officials said district teams were tracking rainfall patterns continuously and coordinating with transport staff to avoid delays.

The government also increased monitoring in areas expected to receive strong winds and heavy showers during the next few days.

Revanth Reddy said officials should act without delay whenever weather conditions threatened paddy stocks or procurement operations.
