Hyderabad: A major accident was narrowly avoided on the Srisailam ghat road after a private travels bus lost control and veered towards the roadside safety wall, leaving around 40 passengers shaken but unhurt, police said.
According to officials, the private bus belonging to Sri Durga Travels was carrying passengers from Visakhapatnam to Srisailam. The incident occurred while the bus was travelling along the ghat section of the road.
Police said the mishap took place near the forest department check post on the Pedda Dornala–Srisailam stretch. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle close to the check post, causing the bus to move suddenly towards the protective wall along the ghat road.
The sudden swerve triggered panic among passengers onboard. However, the bus did not overturn or plunge off the road, preventing a potentially fatal accident.
Passengers rescued safely on Srisailam ghat road
With the help of passers-by, all passengers safely got down from the bus after the incident. Police confirmed that no one sustained injuries in the mishap.
Nearly 40 passengers escaped unharmed, bringing relief to their families. Authorities said traffic movement was briefly affected at the spot but returned to normal soon after.
Police advised drivers to exercise caution while navigating ghat roads, especially near forest check posts and sharp curves. Further details are awaited.
