Uttam housing colony Huzurnagar set for March launch

Hyderabad: Uttam housing colony Huzurnagar will be inaugurated in the first week of March, marking a major affordable housing initiative in the constituency.

The 110-acre project at Ramaswamy Gutta will provide 2,160 single-bedroom flats to economically weaker families. Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy spearheaded the initiative. The government has invited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to formally launch the colony.

Originally, authorities launched the project during Uttam Kumar Reddy’s tenure as Housing Minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh between 2011 and 2014. However, the work stalled in subsequent years. After the Congress returned to power in 2023, the State government revived and accelerated the scheme.

The total project cost stands at ₹125 crore, excluding land acquisition. The government purchased the land from the Endowments Department at full market value after completing statutory formalities.

Reviewing the works, the Minister directed officials to adhere strictly to the schedule. He conducted the inspection along with Telangana Housing Corporation Managing Director V.P. Gowtham and Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nandalal Pawar.

He instructed departments to deploy adequate manpower and ensure coordination in water supply, electrification, plantation, beautification and CC road works. He made it clear that officials would not revise the timeline.

The colony will include a primary health centre and a school with modern facilities. In addition, planners have provided green spaces, drinking water supply and electricity connections.

The project targets economically weaker sections, including rice mill workers and rural poor families from nearby villages. Authorities will carry out beneficiary selection through a transparent process under the supervision of the Revenue Divisional Officer.

In the first phase, officials will finalise 1,000 beneficiaries. The Minister stressed that ineligible families must not receive allotment.

The inauguration will feature a public meeting addressed by the Chief Minister. It will also include a Sahapankti Bhojanam community lunch with beneficiary families to mark the launch.
