New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation conducted an aviation preparedness review in view of the evolving situation in the Middle East and its possible impact on international air operations.
The Civil Aviation Minister held a high-level meeting through video conference with senior officials of the Ministry, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airline operators and major airport operators. The aviation preparedness review focused on passenger safety, operational continuity and real-time coordination amid multiple airspace restrictions and NOTAMs in the region.
Aviation preparedness review stresses safety and coordination
During the meeting, authorities advised Indian carriers operating international services to continuously monitor airspace advisories, NOTAMs and route restrictions. Airlines must reroute or divert flights promptly, wherever required, in line with global safety protocols and contingency plans.
Airports, especially major international gateways, remain on operational alert. They are prepared to handle potential flight diversions, unscheduled landings and passenger facilitation needs. The AAI and private airport operators will coordinate closely with airlines for ground handling, parking bays, passenger amenities, crew logistics and immigration support.
The DGCA will maintain close coordination with airlines to ensure compliance with safety norms, crew duty time limits and operational advisories. It will also activate continuous monitoring systems to assess evolving airspace dynamics and prevent disruptions to domestic schedules.
Meanwhile, the Ministry remains in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs to coordinate any emergent requirements involving Indian carriers or nationals abroad. Passengers should stay in contact with airlines for updated travel information. Airlines will proactively inform passengers about delays, rerouting or diversions.
The Ministry reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains paramount. It will continue to monitor developments and issue further updates as required.
