Sampath Kumar files defamation case against KTR and Harish Rao

Hyderabad: AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar filed a defamation case Sampath Kumar against BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, alleging false propaganda and reputational damage.

He filed the case in a special court for public representatives in Nampally. The complaint also named Manne Krishank, the management of Namasthe Telangana newspaper and a social media handle, Telugu Scribe. Therefore, the case widened to include multiple individuals and platforms.

Sampath Kumar said the defamation case Sampath Kumar related to allegations that he demanded ₹8 crore from a contractor. He termed the claim fabricated and malicious. Moreover, he said such accusations aimed to damage his public image.

He stated that he approached the court to seek legal remedy. He added that misinformation must be countered through proper legal channels. At the same time, he stressed the need to protect his reputation.

Sampath Kumar also alleged that T. Harish Rao had earlier offered him ₹30 crore to switch parties. However, he said he refused the offer and remained committed to Congress ideology. He maintained that his political stance had remained consistent.

He said the defamation case Sampath Kumar aimed to expose baseless allegations. Furthermore, he said it would ensure accountability for those spreading misinformation. He added that legal action was necessary to prevent such claims in public discourse.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing soon. Meanwhile, the court will examine submissions from all parties involved. Officials indicated that the proceedings could draw political attention due to the leaders named in the case.

Sampath Kumar reiterated that he would pursue the case through legal means. He added that the outcome would depend on the court’s evaluation of evidence and arguments.
