Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy launched a sharp attack on former minister T. Harish Rao after his Future City remarks sparked a political confrontation between the Congress and the BRS.
Responding through social media platform X on Friday, Ponguleti questioned how Harish Rao could speak about stopping the Future City project while staying in the United States.
The minister also questioned whether Harish Rao entered into any agreements related to Future City lands during his visit abroad.
Ponguleti said Harish Rao himself remained uncertain about his political future within the BRS. He further alleged that leaders within the party were attempting to weaken Harish Rao politically.
The Congress leader criticised the previous BRS government for failing to complete even a single Metro station during its ten-year tenure under former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
He said the present Congress government was developing a new city that would shape Telangana’s future and create opportunities for coming generations.
Future City remarks intensify Congress-BRS clash
Ponguleti alleged that the KCR family focused on constructing farmhouses while the Congress government concentrated on infrastructure and development projects.
He accused BRS leaders of trying to obstruct the Musi rejuvenation project and proposed industries at Lagcherla. According to him, the opposition also attempted to block initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth.
The minister expressed confidence that Congress would retain power in the next Assembly elections. He added that the government would build a Future City that would bring recognition to Telangana at the national level.
Ponguleti also took a swipe at the BRS and said the party had no future politically, while the Future City project faced no competition.
