Hyderabad: T. Harish Rao said the KCR dignity contrast reflects the difference between K. Chandrashekar Rao and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing the latter of diversion politics and weak governance.
Addressing a media conference at Telangana Bhavan, he stated that KCR spoke like a statesman on key Telangana issues. In contrast, he alleged, the Chief Minister reduced political discourse to personal remarks and theatrics rather than focusing on governance.
Political messaging and public perception
Harish Rao claimed that the timing of Revanth Reddy’s speech—held in the same district and around the same time as KCR’s public meeting—indicated political insecurity. He said KCR avoided personal criticism and focused entirely on public issues.
According to him, KCR’s speech attracted nearly 36 lakh live viewers, while the Chief Minister’s address drew significantly fewer viewers. He argued that this difference highlighted continued public support for the BRS leadership.
Welfare schemes and governance concerns
The BRS leader further alleged that the Congress government released an instalment under the Rythu Bharosa scheme only after learning about KCR’s meeting in Jagtial. He claimed the decision was taken overnight due to mounting pressure.
He also pointed out that nearly ₹4,000 crore remained pending, adding that around ₹5,000 crore should have been fully disbursed. These delays, he said, raised serious questions about governance and priorities.
In addition, Harish Rao referred to the Vote-for-Note case, noting that it was scheduled for hearing in the Supreme Court of India. He alleged that any change in the legal status could have implications for the Chief Minister.
KCR dignity contrast on Kaleshwaram issue
Harish Rao reiterated the KCR dignity contrast while responding to criticism of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He said the government had now acknowledged that the Medigadda barrage could be repaired and reused.
He pointed out that earlier statements suggested the entire project had collapsed and funds were wasted. However, the latest stance indicated that only certain components required repair.
He questioned whether damage to a few pillars justified branding the entire project as a failure. He urged the government to clarify its position and provide consistent communication on the issue.
Broader political implications
Concluding his remarks, Harish Rao said the contrast between KCR’s approach and that of the current leadership reflects a larger political divide in Telangana. He added that voters are closely observing leadership styles, governance delivery, and accountability.
Overall, the debate continues to shape the political narrative in the state, with both sides making strong claims over performance and credibility.
