Jupally Krishna Rao urges adoption of PM Surya Ghar scheme

Hyderabad: Excise, Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao urged residents to adopt the PM Surya Ghar scheme and benefit from rooftop solar power during a gram sabha in Peddadagada village of Kollapur constituency.

Addressing villagers, the minister explained the benefits available under the Centre’s solar energy programme. He said the scheme allows households to generate electricity through rooftop solar panels and meet their daily power needs.

Jupally said families could also sell surplus electricity to distribution companies. As a result, beneficiaries could earn around Rs 2.50 per unit for excess power supplied to the grid.

He noted that the initiative helps reduce household electricity expenses. Moreover, it creates an additional source of income for participating families.

PM Surya Ghar promotes clean and affordable energy

The minister said wider adoption of solar energy would strengthen energy self-reliance across rural areas. He added that the programme supports environmental protection by encouraging the use of renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, Jupally urged villagers to make full use of the opportunity and become energy producers instead of depending entirely on conventional power supplies.

According to him, the PM Surya Ghar scheme benefits both households and the environment. Therefore, he called on residents to actively participate in the programme and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
