Vivek Venkatswamy outlines welfare, jobs and mining reforms after one year in office

Hyderabad: Labour, Employment, Training & Factories, and Mines & Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy highlighted the Telangana government’s achievements in welfare, employment generation and industrial development while marking the completion of one year in office on Monday.

Addressing a media conference, the Minister said the government had focused on public welfare, industrial growth and job creation during the past year. He stated that the administration remained committed to fulfilling promises made to people during the elections and accelerating Telangana’s development.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the government was preparing a dedicated welfare framework for gig workers. According to him, the proposed policy will provide social security, insurance coverage and health protection for workers in the sector.

Furthermore, he said the government was committed to protecting labour rights and ensuring that workers across the state receive minimum wages. He added that safeguarding workers’ interests remained a priority for the administration.

The Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to tackling illegal mining activities. He said authorities had intensified enforcement measures against illegal sand transportation and sand mafia operations.

According to him, special monitoring teams are continuously tracking violations. He warned that officials would take strict action against those involved in activities causing losses to government revenue.

Vivek Venkatswamy review focuses on jobs and skill development

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said Telangana had created a favourable environment for industrial growth and investment. As a result, new projects were helping generate employment opportunities for local youth.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of skill development in improving employability. He said the government was equipping young people with industry-relevant skills that match current market requirements.

Highlighting support for the Indiramma Housing Scheme, the Minister said the government was supplying free sand to beneficiaries. He explained that the initiative was reducing construction costs for poor families and helping them achieve home ownership.

In addition, he said the government had introduced greater transparency in sand distribution. These measures, he noted, were ensuring that eligible beneficiaries received sand without difficulty.

The Minister also announced the establishment of an Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) in Chennur. The centre will provide modern training programmes designed to meet industry demands.

According to him, Advanced Technology Centres are emerging as gateways to employment opportunities for Telangana’s youth. He said the centres would equip young people with advanced technical skills and improve their career prospects.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the government had worked in line with public aspirations during its first year in office. He added that development and welfare programmes would continue at a faster pace in the coming years.

The Minister reiterated that the government’s long-term objective was to transform Telangana into a model state through welfare-driven governance, industrial growth and employment-focused initiatives.
