Railway RRB recruitment process accelerates with technology-driven reforms

New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the Railway RRB recruitment process and directed officials to strengthen transparency, accuracy and technology-driven systems across recruitment activities.

Indian Railways recruited 43,781 candidates during FY 2025-26 through completed recruitment cycles covering six major categories. The appointments included 18,799 Assistant Loco Pilots, 14,298 technicians, 1,376 paramedical staff and other posts.

The minister said the annual recruitment calendar and quarterly vacancy notifications have helped candidates prepare with greater certainty. Moreover, he emphasised continuous improvements through faster processes and stronger accountability.

Vaishnaw reviewed the transition of departmental examinations to Computer Based Tests. He stated that Indian Railways would expand tablet-based examinations wherever feasible to make assessments quicker and more user-friendly.

The Railway recruitment system conducts examinations across several cities, multiple shifts and 15 languages. Therefore, authorities use robust technology and coordination to maintain fairness and equal opportunities for candidates.

Several recruitment examinations are currently progressing, including Level-1, Assistant Loco Pilot, Junior Engineer and NTPC categories. The Railways expects final selections for these examinations within the next six months to one year.

The minister also directed Railway Recruitment Boards to improve communication with candidates. Furthermore, officials must counter misinformation quickly and provide accurate updates.

Indian Railways reiterated its commitment to a fair and merit-based recruitment system supported by technology, structured planning and ongoing reforms.
